Adams Elementary Earns National Recognition as a Core Knowledge School of Distinction
April 11, 2025
Adams Elementary School has been named a Core Knowledge School of Distinction for grades TK–6. Adams joins just seven other schools across the country with this elite status—one of which is RUSD’s own Bryant Elementary School. The designation lasts for five years, after which schools can reapply to demonstrate their continued excellence.
This prestigious recognition, presented by the Core Knowledge Foundation, celebrates Adams’ outstanding commitment to providing a superior educational experience grounded in knowledge-based learning.
Adams Elementary stood out to The Core Knowledge Foundation in two key areas—for its effective integration of multiple Core Knowledge curricula, and for the exceptional support school leadership provides to its teaching staff.
“We are honored to be recognized as a Core Knowledge School of Distinction!” said Kristen Vasta, Transitional Kindergarten Teacher. “This award celebrates the dedication of our amazing educators, the hard work of our students, and the impact of the knowledge-rich, comprehensive curriculum that we are so lucky to have the honor of teaching.”
Since 2013, Adams Elementary has embraced the Core Knowledge approach, which emphasizes a rich, content-based curriculum that builds student knowledge and curiosity year after year. Schools recognized as Schools of Distinction are those that demonstrate excellence in instruction, collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement.
Griselda Calderon, a proud Adams parent, summed up the community’s pride: “I am proud to say that my children attend Adams Elementary School and get to participate in the Core Knowledge program. I am excited that our school and our teachers have earned the recognition of having an exemplary Core Knowledge program!”
